AFL Dave's Mom's Thanksgiving Pie Thanksgiving-Pie-Guessing Contest

Results 2003

As many of you know, a newbie to our little group won this year's pie contest. (Our 5th by the way..) David from Wichita had gotten tickets to the Late Show and checked in with AFL to see what, if anything, he might be able to learn about what to expect at the show. To his surprise he found our little contest and he and his son decided to enter at the 11th hour. They guessed Dave's Mom would bake an Apple and a Pecan pie.

Well, guess what? She did!

But Dave hadn't quite won yet. We had TWO entries with the correct answer. As per the rules, we had to go to our tie-break question -how many time would the word 'pie' be uttered the night of the big unveiling. Dave guessed 53 and our other entry, Jim, guessed 7. The correct number? 43. David, being the closest guess to 43, was deemed the winner by the pie committee during our annual conference call.

The next day we determined David lived waaaayyy to far for a personal pickup, so it was decided to overnight the pie to his office. David and his son wanted a cherry pie for their prize and I promised I'd make a damn fine one. Trouble was I had to take off to a big conference the next week. David was going to have to wait a little while for his pie. And since I was neck deep in work the following two weeks David had to wait just a bit longer. But finally things cleared on my end and David's pie will reach his office right before Christmas.

Did I tell you David is a dentist?

I wonder if he'll serve toothbrushes along with that pie?
